Today was an awesome day at LEAF - with shopping and
gardening and EVIL BLACKBERRIES! I feel like when we started shoveling out
blackberries plants, everyone was super energetic. Whenever anyone pulled out a
big one everyone would go 'YAAAAAAY!' Then, towards the end, everyone started
to go slowly. The most boring part was the gardening. It was fun, but not super
exciting. I don't even know what to call the place. Shopping was, strangely,
awesome. Once I found out we had a time limit, it felt like I was on a mission
to collect food in 15 minutes, or the WORLD WOULD EXPLODE!!!!! I know. I'm weird. I love it. I'm super
excited for tomorrow. (Except for the sewer part.) See you tomorrow!

I visited somewhere that was a golf course. I chopped some
Black berry plants. I ate black
berries. I also learned about
soil, plants and the Nature - also the environment. I felt Amazed.

The place I visited had a golf course it had baby salmons in
the water. The work we did was pull out plants that were not nature what I mean
by not nature is the ones that are no good and left the ones that were nature
and good. I learned more about salmon and then I learned a little more about
nature. I had fun I was happy to do what we did today. This is all about what I
learned what I did and how I felt about doing it and how much fun I had.

I really enjoyed getting to meet kids that I never knew
before. Getting to weed and gorge
out on blackberries was the thing that made my day. Who loves to get their hands muddy in the process of planting grasses, I DO!

Today my at my first day at LEAF I felt excited to meet new
friends but also nervous because I'm a shy person. My favorite part of the day
was pulling out the invasive blackberry plant. I thought this helped us build
a bigger community. Pulling out the blackberry plant was tiring but I thought
it was great to help the salmon. Today at Good Earth having a budget was
difficult but it wasn't as hard as having four dollars. I was very grateful
that we got to met new friends and learn how to help the environment more. I'm
really excited to go SFPUC tomorrow and learn where our water goes.

I had a great experience on my first day of LEAF! I really
feel like I bonded wit a lot of new people on this trip! I liked learning about
all the different kinds of salmon and how they are becoming endangered species.
It was fun weeding the Himalayan Blackberries because I didn’t want to
accidentally pull out native berries! We also potted some plant and had our
hands covered in wet soil. It was fun shopping at the organic market and
getting ingredients for the foods our classmates are making for tomorrow’s
lunch. I hope to do more fun things at LEAF!
~ Leo
The morning was really great! Clearing blackberries with a
shovel is tricky at some points because the ground is very tough. The pick
works much better because they are able to break the ground and expose the
root. The afternoon was sort of repetitive at spawn but that is fine. I hope
the smell is not too bad at the sewage treatment plant tomorrow but even if it
is I am sure it will be interesting. I hope the smell is not too bad at the sewage treatment

My first day of leaf was hard work trying to keep my cast
clean and dry. After the day I felt good about myself after planting and
destroying plants to help the ecosystem out. I learned a lot about salmon and
how they help the ecosystem around the river by creating nutrients for the
plants around the river. I also learned a lot about how teamwork can help solve
problems faster and in a more productive way. I realized a lot more about what
makes food organic and local. I learned about the benefits organic and local
food can bring to the world.
