Words From a Founding LEAF Student 2010

At LEAF we get to experience unordinary places and meet new people. Today was no exception. The sewer. This was my third time at the sewer and I am still shocked every time I go at how much waste San Francisco creates. The work done at the sewer is truly amazing but I can't say the same about its smell. I learned so much about the process used to turn waste water into purified/clean water that can be pumped back into the ocean, as well as the process used to take the solids and oils from the waste water and turn them into soil/fertilizer for non-food crops. Today was truly an eye-opening and foul-smelling experience.
